A Fun Pant Up-Cycle Project

OK, OK...  I know that school just let out and that most of us are in full blown summer mode but I just had to share this super cute tutorial from the Coats and Clark Sewing Secrets blog for what I think would be a great way to extend the life on all those jeans that still fit in the waist but have turned into floods or even capris since you relegated them to storage for summer. 

It's never too early to get a head start on back to school sewing, right? 

Here's another idea...take those jeans with holes in the knees and make them cut-offs with this super cute ruffle detail on the bottom.  Seriously, there are some adorable creations to be had, here!

I'm a big fan of up-cycling and reusing garments to make something new (and lovely)! Here's a tutorial from s favorite blogger of mine on how to reuse an old Adult T-Shirt into an infant gown. Can you say "amazing baby shower gift"?!

Here's how mine turned out (please excuse the sub par photography)!

So, I know that this probably could have been a lot more hip had I used one of my dearly beloved ski or concert T's but I thought it best to use this brown Giro ski T-Shirt for my first attempt.  Believe me, this project was so easy that there will be plenty more of these made (as baby gifts, of course)!

If you are looking for a handmade, budget conscious, shower gift or have a baby on the way and are looking for functional clothing that suites your lifestyle then I would highly recommend this project!

Cute Kid's Bike Bag Tutorial!

I'm absolutely positive you are wondering just what I've been working on this week so... to answer this question I give you this lovely tutorial from the Noodlehead Blog -- The Bicycle Bucket Bag!

Here's my first (aka prototype) Bicycle Bag

First, please excuse the bad lighting.  It's a very gloomy day here in the Northwest.  Second, It's not perfect but it's together and sturdy and really does look nice.  I'm sure the next one will be SPOT ON.

I've got enough material cut for two more!  I can't wait to see the smiles when I give them to the kiddos.

This project is simple to make and very functional!  I found mine sturdy enough to carry anything my children could toss in it (waterbottles, lovies, rocks, magic wands (aka sticks), and flowers.  If you find yourself with some free time and a hankering for a sewing project I would highly recommend giving this one a shot!

I'm making them for three luckly little kids because springtime biking weather will be here before I know it, right?
